James and JF is a comedy super duo. They dress in various different outfits to create a wide array of characters and exhibit a very specific brand of observational/imaginary humor. They like to keep it simple, real and funny. Simply put, they are really funny.
Technically there are Emily James and Ishah Janssen-Faith. They met in 2006 and began as a duo in 2009. It was a long time coming, but it's here now, so get with it.
Emily James is a performer, writer, clown, multi-media artist and clairvoyant. On stage, she has performed with Kendall Cornell and the Clowns Ex Machina and in a duo with Sulai Lopez. She recently completed an artist residency in Ilvesjoki, Finland where she created a video piece "Forbidden Fields" and used her love life as the medium for "Not Really Love Letters". She made a series of videos called "Desperately Seeking Johann" and her short movie, "Hairbit," was shown in film festivals in Tennessee and Switzerland. She can currently be seen in the web series “A Show of Tenderness”.
Ishah Janssen-Faith is a performer, clown and writer. She trained for two years with Philippe Gaulier as well as Mick Barnfather, John Wright and members of Theatre de Complicite. In London, she created and performed shows with Bouillabaisse & Silent Noise. In NYC, she has performed various solo clown pieces at HERE, New York Downtown Clown Revue, The Moon and Galapagos. Since 2006, she has created and performed original shows with her company, Coffee Cup, at PS122, Access Theater and Collective:Unconscious; and is part of Clowns Ex Machina, performing at LaMama.
They created Channel One as their first foray onto the stage as this new entity. Channel One has been created over the first part of 2010 and performed in pieces at HERE, The Magnet, Hi Christina, The Moon, Performancy Forum, Galapagos, Bowery Poetry Club and The Tank. The full show premiered at the 2010 NY Clown Theatre Festival at The Brick Theater, then went on to play for a month at Triskelion Arts, Toronto Fringe Festival 2011, Edmonton Fringe Festival 2011 and the 2011 Amuse Bouche - A NY Clown Theatre Hors d'Oeuvre at The Brick Theater.
